At the end of last half term, some of our Heyes Lane students went and performed at The Musical Memory Café in Altrincham, just outside of Manchester, as part of Dementia Action Week.

They got to show off their rock star skills, joined in with singing some Golden Oldies, and entertained the elderly from the local area – everyone had a great time. A big well done to William, Isabel, Sami, and Lewis!

Dementia describes different brain disorders that trigger a loss of brain function. These conditions are all usually progressive and eventually severe. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, and 225,000 will develop dementia this year, one every three minutes.

We hope to be involved in more events like this, it was wonderful to go and share the children’s talent with older folk in their community!
